This route is essentially the 400km or so stretch from Bangalore westwards to Mangalore and Udupi. You can visit a great deal of attractions along the National Highway 48 (NH48) , that connects Bangalore with Mangalore.  Take the HN4 out of Bangalore and at Nelamangala take the left diversion into NH 48. About 600km long, Bangalore to Goa can't be labeled as a weekend driving route. The fact is , it is an immensely popular driving route, especially among those who are on an extended weekend outing. NH4 from Bangalore takes you all the way up to Dharwad, from where you'll take the diversion , cross Western Ghats and enter Goa state.
