The Cauvery Trail

A

great number of attractions are located alongside the Cauvery River. Listed are a number of popular attractions from KRS near Mysore to Mettur.

The attractions along the Cauvery's path  include many waterfalls like Edmuri Falls, Balmuri Falls, Shivanasamudra Falls,  Barachukki Falls, Chunchi Falls (in Arkavathi river, a tributary to ) and the majestic   Hogenakkal Falls.

Between the KRS Dam and  Srirangapatna is the island of Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary.

The Island of Srirangapatna formed by Cauvery is both a religious and historic site, very popular among the tourists.  Somnathpur near T.Narasipura (Confluence where Kabini joins Cauveri) is great archaeological site for the star attraction,  the Chennakeshava temple.

Talakadu is both a popular pilgrimage and picknick destination, where there are numerous sand sunken temples, on the river banks where the river makes an unusual turn.

Further down are a great deal of nature camps and expedition trails Bheemeshwari Adventure and Nature Camp operated by Jungle Lodges & Resorts (JLR) is a sought after Nature destination. Bush Betta Camp on the banks of Arkavathi near Bangalore is a popular camping destination.

Anglers' paradise , Galibore Fishing Camp, Doddamakali Fishing Camp & Bheemeshwari Fishing Camp are famous for the legendary Masheers.

Accessing each of these places varies. Some are well connected with public transport, some requires private vehicles while the others may include some level of treks.
