Ancient Temples
Yoga Nandeeshwara Temple was built during the Chola period, dedicated to Lord Shiva in an austere form. This is located at the hilltop a contract of this temple, the Bhoga Nandeeshwara Temple is at the foothill a much more elaborate with architectural details.

You can see the architectural styles of five southern dynasties since 10th century CE in this temple. The Gangas of 10th century built the original temple. You can see the intricate soapstone carving mastey of Hoysalas, styles of Pallavas and Cholas and finally the bold and grandiose style of Vijayanagara style in composite granite pillars.

This is a national heritage monument. The temple complex houses three shrines of Lord Shiva in three aspects.

The first is Arunachaleswara, representing Siva in childhood/adolescent phase. The second one, the Uma Maheshwara temple is dedicated to Siva and Parvathi.

The this one represents Lord Shiva in renunciation state, an austere form of Shiva.

Nellikayi Basavanna Temple, the curiously named Nani temple has a Nellikai (Gooseberry) tree in front of the temple!

Shringi Theertha This pond in the Yoga Nandeeshwara Temple is the source of Pinaki River. The entire pond is enclosed in an open pavillion and a series of steps leading to the waterbody.

Fortification The road to the hilltop will pass through the forts' gateway. This archway and its surrounding are a major tourist spot. This fort encomapases close to 100 acre in Handi Hills
