Bangalore to Badami via Hosapete (Hospet) ( distance 454km ) : Bangalore — 68km → Tumkur Bypass —131km → Chitradurga Bypass —124km → Hospet — 63km → Kushtagi — 26km → Gajendragad — 8km → Sudi — 29km → Banashankari Temple — 5km → Badami

Bangalore to Badami via Hubli( distance 510km ) : Bangalore — 68km → Tumkur Bypass —131km → Chitradurga Bypass — 58km → Davangere — 39km → Ranebennur — 35km → Haveri — 77km → Hubli — 60km → Nargund — 26km → Kulageri Cross — 20km → Badami

The Hubli route is 4 lane highway all the way from Bangalore up to Hubli (for about 400km on NH48) and then 2/4 lane NH52 and state roads from Hubli to Badami ( the last 100km).

From Hubli take diversion to NH52 towards Vijayapura (Bijapur). At Kulageri Cross leave NH52 and take the right diversion to Badami Road.

For the Hospet route take the diversion at Chitradurga ( NH48 to NH50 ). NH50 is with heavy traffic (truck traffic) and varying road conditions, esp around the Hospet area.

Take the Hospet route to combine the Badami-Aihole-Pattadakal road trip itinerary with Hampi.

Plan for about 10-11 hours of drive Bangalore to Badami route by either route.

[#train]Badami is has a railway station. There's a daily overnight train to Solapur / Vijayapura via Badami. If you are taking train, consider hiring private cab at Badami for covering Pattadakal and Aihole.

[#flight]Also, for flight options, the nearest airport for Badami is Hubli ( HBX) which is well connected with Bengaluru (BLR). Ticket costs in the range of Rs2500-3500 one way.

[#hotel]Consider an extended weekend (3days) for this trip. Badami has good hotels and resorts. Good options are Clarks Inn Badami, Hotel Badami Court and KSTDC Hotel Mayura Chalukya are hotel good options at Badami. Check with MakeMyTrip, Agoda, Tripadvisor etc to see the reviews and book.
