The most popular one is the SH17 via Mandya. The second route is via Kanakapura. The SH17 is 4 lane almost all the way.
Route 1: (Distance 144km) Bangalore – 50km -> Ramnagar --12km-->Channapatna--20km-–> Maddur -- 20km --> Mandya- 25km -> Srirangapatna – 17km -> Mysore City.
Route 2: (Distance 155km) Bangalore – 62km -> Kanakapura --46km-->Malavalli --47km-–> Mysore City.

The highway is in good condition, with 4 lane most of the way. You’ll take anything between 3 to 4 hours, depending on many traffic conditions. What probably slows down would be the slow moving traffic in the Bangalore city to Bidadi stretch (about 30km). Beyond this traffic moves pretty smooth.
You'll pass Ramanagara,Maddur, Mandya and Srirangapatna before reaching Mysore.
There are also plenty of bus services (KSRTC) and train connections for Mysore from Bangalore.
For bus get to the Satellite bus station in Bangalore. In Mysore, the bus stand is in the city center.
