Route 1 : Goa to Bangalore via Mangalore
Route 2 : Goa to Bangalore via Shimoga
Route 3 : Goa to Bangalore via Hubli.

So the first task for you is to decide your larger route plan, considering a host of factors , including your itinerary en-route to Goa.

If your destination is in Goa, Route 3 is the most popular choice, thanks to the road condition.This is also a good choice, if you are planning to cover the whole distance in one straight drive.

Option 2 is desirable, only if you are planning to cover places like Jog Falls.

Similarly Route 1 is for those who wants to cover a host of popular beaches and other attractions on the Konkan coast and in the Western Ghats.

Back to Route 3 (via Hubli), you can split this route further into three.

If your final destination is in north Goa, head further to Belgaum on NH4 and exit for the Jamboti Route. Great drive through the western ghats forest before you hit northern Goa destinations.

Take diversion at Dharwad for Alnavar, you'll head straight through the Western Ghats forest. At Ponda, take further diversions for your destination in Goa.

Opt for the Karwar route, if you are heading to South Goa destinations. This is probably the best route out of the three diversions to Goa from NH4 from a driving point of view.

Of course there is one more diversion from Hubli via Dandeli. This diversion is greatly through ghat roads. Select this only if you are keen on nature, wants to try something challenging!
